The Mets have hired Dom Chiti as their bullpen coach, sources tell @TheAthletic. Chiti was Buck Showalter’s bullpen coach with the Rangers in 2006 and the Orioles from 2014 to ‘16. He spent the past two seasons with the Angels.
— Ken Rosenthal (@Ken_Rosenthal) December 20, 2022
The Mets’ apparent hiring of Dom Chiti as bullpen coach revives a fun note from the team’s history. In 1962 the Mets acquired Dom’s dad Harry, a catcher, from Cleveland for a player to be named later. 51 days later he was sent back as that PTBNL. Yep, he was traded for himself.
