According to Will Sammon of The Athletic on X, the New York Mets today announced they have resigned RHP Grant Hartwig and outfielder Alex Ramirez to minor league contracts.
Both players have shown promise in the past which led to their placement pon the 40 Man Roster.
Alex Ramirez was put on the roster last Winter to keep out of the Rule 5 Draft. The once top 5 Mets Prospect has fallen to #26 on MLB.com's Prospect List after tough years in Brooklyn in 2023 (.221/.310/.317) and Binghamton in 2024 (.210/.291/.299).
After signing in 2021, Grant Hartwig blazed through 4 levels of the minors from St. Lucie, Brooklyn, Binghamton and Syracuse (6-2, 1.75 ERA, 82 Ks in 56.2 innings) in 2022. He made the Mets in 2023. Hopefully he can get back to the pitcher that we saw in 2022.
The Mets and outfielder Alex Ramirez have agreed to a minor-league deal, league source tells The Athletic. Ramirez was viewed as a top prospect for a while, but his development had stalled in AA, particularly at the plate. Still, he had a strong market as a free agent.

Last year, he missed a chunk of time because of knee surgery. As a rookie in 2023, he made 28 appearances.
