NY Post: Insane inning, review save Mets in wild win over Phillies. “Somehow, the Mets survived the ninth. Rhys Hoskins appeared to hit a game-tying homer off Edwin Diaz with two outs, but the call was overturned by a crew chief’s review…In a huge eighth inning, the Mets sent 10 batters to the plate and savaged the Phillies bullpen, including Jose Alvarado — who earlier in the day was suspended three games (he is appealing) for his role in inciting the benches to empty Friday night.”

Brian Joura Mets360: “In a game where both teams had Win Expectancy rates of 89% or greater in the late innings, the hero of the game was … Jeurys Familia! After Edwin Diaz tried his best to lose the game in the 9th inning, Familia came on with the tying run on second base and got the final out of the game” (Subscription required).

Newsday: McCutchen's 16th career leadoff homer to dead center off David Peterson put Philadelphia in front in the first. NY Post: Mets lose Jacob deGrom and their hold on 1st in night to forget. "Stud right-hander Jacob deGrom exited after four dominant, scoreless innings with a hyperextended right elbow and was sent for an MRI exam...In related news concerning the Mets, the youthful Braves surged past them and into first place by a half game in the NL East with a 7-0 victory Wednesday at Citi Field. The Mets’ bullpen generally got battered and the offense completely got shut down with 18 batters going down in order from the second to the ninth innings."

NY Post: Wheeler battered around as Mets fall to Rockies.  "Curtis Granderson hit a shot into the right-field seats and had a two-hit game. Other than that, the Mets will want to erase this latest Mile High beatdown from their collective memories...A night after Bartolo Colon surrendered seven runs and failed to complete five innings, Zack Wheeler got jumped in the first inning for four runs and never recovered...Wheeler (L,1-3) was finished after four innings, in which he allowed seven runs, six earned, on seven hits and two walks. NY Post: Galvine, Shane punch out Pods. "While the Mets left 12 men on base, the offense was solid enough, scoring the six runs, rapping out nine hits and drawing seven walks. Shane Spencer, in particular, delivered, roping three hits and driving in two runs. Right now he’s the Mets’ best hitter (.357)...Still, the majority of the credit has to go to Tom Glavine (W,4-1). Changing speeds beautifully and mixing his changeup with his fastball and sinker, Glavine shut down the Padre lineup, allowing just two runs and five hits over six innings.
