SNY.TV:
Mets' Marcus Stroman exits Tuesday's game with left hip soreness, will be
reevaluated Wednesday, Right-hander left the game after just 21 pitches.
Mets.com:
“The latest problem revolves around Stroman, who felt he hyperextended his hip
on a pitch in the second inning and struggled to get the joint loose after
that. Stroman, whom the Mets did not make available to speak after the game,
was scheduled to undergo additional testing on Wednesday that should determine
the severity of his injury.”
NY
Post.com: “The Mets’ offense offered little help. It did not have a base
runner until the fourth inning, when Morton hit Jeff McNeil and walked Billy
McKinney. It did not have a hit until the fifth inning, when Eickhoff delivered
his pinch-hit roller of a single.”
SNY.TV:
Stroman leaves early, Mets muster two hits in 3-0 loss to Braves.
Mets.com:
Stat of the day: “Since busting out for 14 runs against Matt Harvey and the
Orioles on June 9, the Mets have averaged 2.6 runs per game in 14 contests.
That's 29th in MLB over that stretch, and a full run less than their season
average of 3.6 runs per game (which is also 29th in the Majors, ahead of only
the Pirates). Over their last eight games, the Mets have been even less
productive, averaging 1.6 runs per night.”
Mets.com:
Conforto
on way back from injured list. Return pushed to Wednesday as precaution after a
Syracuse player has a positive COVID test.
SNY.tv:
Mets planning to be cautious with Michael Conforto when he returns to lineup.
Outfielder expected to be activated after suffering hamstring strain on May 16
SNY.com: Mets
open to trading for 'stabilizer' or impact pitcher, says Zack Scott: 'I'm on
the phone a lot'. 'We're still looking at a market that the prices tend to
be pretty high until you get close to that deadline'.
SNY.TV:
Prospect Tylor Megill gets opportunity to start for Mets on Wednesday. With
Marcus Stroman leaving Tuesday's start early, the Mets have more pitching
questions.
Braves (34-37) @ Mets (37-30), 7:10 pm

4 shutouts in 8 games for Mets. Injuries have caught up with them to some extent but the wait goes on for Lindor hot streak. Had that 2-HR game on Saturday, 2-for-16 since then. Both singles. A lot of weak contact. Baffling.

Luis Rojas says Tylor Megill will be called up tomorrow to start for the Mets pic.twitter.com/F5Rtb1Pxhu
— SNY (@SNYtv) June 23, 2021
Megill, the Mets' 21st-ranked prospect, has added much velocity over the past year. He's been sitting 94-96 mph in the minors with solid breaking stuff. The key pitch for Megill is the changeup, which many scouts believe will make or break if he's a starter or reliever long-term.

Further evaluation for Marcus Stroman tonight. He was worried he may have hyperextended his hip when landing on a pitch, Luis Rojas said.

the plate by Juan Uriarte as they head into the fifth. Perhaps asking your backstop who is built
like a Mack truck to catch in 72% humidity (as I listen in from nearby
Bensonhurst), leg out a double, then race from second to home was a bit much on
the legs. The announcers were sticking
to a precautionary, and proactive explanation, but they did mention he was
limping in the dugout. Put that through
the translator. Otherwise, I hope it was
just cramps. Stay tuned ...”
Here's the play that caused #Mets top prospect Francisco Álvarez to leave tonight's Cyclones game. Hard to tell if he took the foul tip off his hand/wrist or a more delicate area.

After taking Phillies right-hander Dallas
Green deep, Jimmy
Piersall runs around the bases in the correct order, but backward, to
celebrate his 100th career home run. The Mets' outfielder, who thought of the
stunt after being disappointed by the lack of attention Duke Snider's 400th round-tripper received,
will be released two days later by manager Casey
Stengel. |
2006 |
The Mets, defeating the Blue Jays at the Rogers Centre,
6-1, set a club record, winning their ninth straight decision on the road.
The team had won their eight decisions on a ten-game road trip, including
stops in Los Angeles, Arizona, and Philadelphia. |
2008 |
In an interleague contest against the Mets at Shea Stadium, Mariners' right-hander Felix Hernandez becomes the first pitcher in the 31-year history of the franchise to hit a home run. The round-tripper, which comes off fellow Venezuela ace Johan Santana, is also the first grand slam hit by an American League pitcher since Steve Dunning of the Indians homered off A's moundsman Diego Segui in 1971. |

2019: Tensions boil over in the clubhouse of the
struggling Mets after a 5 - 3 loss to
the Cubs at Wrigley Field as manager Mickey Callaway accuses Newsday beat reporter Tim Healey of antagonizing
people. The exchange quickly degenerates as P Jason Vargas also gets involved and threatens to knock out the journalist
while Callaway shouts for him to leave the clubhouse, using choice profanities.
