Dominguez hits FSL leading 15th homer
PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (June 29, 2022) – The Jupiter Hammerheads defeated the St. Lucie Mets 3-2 in a five-inning rain-shorted game on Wednesday at Clover Park. (Box Score)
Osiris Johnson hit a go-ahead two-run homer in the top of the fifth off Mets starter Christian Scott to give the Hammerheads a 3-2 lead.
Jupiter starter Luis Palacios worked around leadoff singles in the third and fourth innings and a leadoff walk in the fifth inning. He held the Mets to two runs on six hits to get the win.
The Mets started out quick. Alex Ramirez led off the bottom of the first with a single and scored two batters later on a Stanley Consuegra RBI single.
Carlos Dominguez crushed his Florida State League leading 15th home run of the season, a solo shot, in the second to put the Mets up 2-0.
Scott held the Hammerheads off the board the first three innings. Cristhian Rodriguez drove in the first run for Jupiter on a two-out single in the fourth.
Angeudis Santos took a walk to start the fifth and Johnson followed with his fourth home run of the season to take the lead.
Scott (2-3) took the loss. He pitched all five innings and was charged with three runs on four hits. He walked three and struck out six.
Torrential rains and unplayable field conditions led to a permanent stoppage of play just as the Mets were getting ready to take the field for the top of the sixth.
The Mets (41-29, 1-4) and Hammerheads (37-32, 3-2) play the third game of their series at Clover Park on Thursday. First pitch is 6:10 p.m. Veterans and military members can get a free ticket by showing their ID at the ticket window. It's also Dollar Night with $1 Bud and Bud Light, $1 soda, $1 popcorn and $2 hot dogs.
