  • Swept seven of their last 11 doubleheaders, including five this season...The Mets are 16-4 this season in doubleheaders which is the most wins in baseball in twin-bill games.
  • According to Elias, the team's streak of 24 consecutive doubleheaders without being swept is the longest in team history.
Buck Showalter: Surpassed Mike Scioscia for 19th all-time on the managerial wins list with his 1,651st win in game two.

First Inning: Mets homered in their first three at-bats of Game Two...This is the first time in franchise history that they have hit back-to-back-to-back home runs to start a game.
  • The Mets are the eighth team in MLB history to homer in three straight at-bats to lead off a game...The Minnesota Twins accomplished the feat earlier this season on June 9.
  • The last time the Mets homered in back-to-back-to-back at-bats was August 7, 2021 when Michael Conforto, Jonathan Villar, and James McCann did it off Mauricio Llovera.
Jeff McNeil (1-5, HR, RBI, R): Extended his hitting streak to 10 games with a home run in the first...Is batting .465 (20-43) during the streak...Has not struck out in 11 straight games, a career-high.
  • Jeff now leads the NL Batting Crown race at ,328.  Freddie Freeman who has gone 0 for his last 10 is at .324.
Francisco Álvarez (2-2, HR, 2B, RBI, R): Homered after coming in the game in the fifth inning to catch, his first catching appearance...Is the 16th Met to homer for his first career hit.
  • This is the third time this season that a Met has slugged a home run for their first career hit (also, Brett Baty and Nick Plummer).
  • He is the youngest player (20-319 d) to hit a home run as a catcher since Ivan Rodriguez on July 6. 1992 (20-222 d).

1999: The New York Mets defeat the Arizona Diamondbacks, 8 - 4, to take Game 1 of their NLDSEdgardo Alfonzo hits two home runs for New York, including a game-winning grand slam with two outs in the 9th inning. Randy Johnson takes the loss for Arizona, his sixth consecutive defeat in postseason play.


2000: The Mets even their NLDS with San Francisco at one game apiece by winning a 10-inning thriller, 5 - 4. Jay Payton's single drives home the winning run in the top of the 10th inning after J.T. Snow's pinch-hit three-run home run ties the game in the bottom of the 9th. Edgardo Alfonzo hits a two-run homer for the Mets in the top half of the frame. Al Leiter pitches 8+ innings for the Mets. Armando Benitez gives up the tying homer, but gets the win in relief.


2016 - Madison Bumgarner adds to his postseason legend by pitching a complete game shutout as San Francisco prevails over the Mets in the National League Wild Card Game, 3 - 0. Conor Gillaspie breaks a scoreless tie with a three-run homer off Jeurys Familia in the top of the 9th, negating a great start by Noah Syndergaard who had gone toe-to-toe with Bumgarner for the first seven innings.
