SI.com: Should the Mets Trade For This Underrated First Baseman? "However, the Mets can look at the Tampa Bay Rays and get the perfect stopgap: first baseman Yandy Díaz. Díaz, 33, has been one of baseball's most underrated hitters since coming to Tampa Bay in 2019. Over the past six seasons, he's slashed .289/.374/.440 with 142 doubles, 74 home runs, 313 RBI, 352 runs scored, and a 133 wRC+. Last season, Díaz hit a solid .281/.341/.414 with 14 long balls, and in 2023, he won the AL batting title with a .330/.410/.522 slash line along with a career-best 22 home runs and 163 wRC+."

USA Today: 30 moves for 30 teams: One player every MLB club should sign to start 2025. Gabe Lacques reccomends that the Mets sign A.J. Minter, free agent LHP.

Last year as a 30 year old A.J. Minter went 5 and 4 with a 2.62 ERA in 39 games, 34.1 innings.  He required surgery late last season. Per MLB.com: "The surgical procedure required performing a microfracture on the hip. Minter dealt with some hip and lower back discomfort over the past few years, but not to the extent he did this season. His average four-seam velocity dropped from 96.6 mph in 2022 to 95.8 mph in 2023 to 94.5 mph this year. That average dropped all the way down to 93.5 mph during the five August appearances he made before opting to have surgery."

Mets.com: Here are the best players of the 2000s ... so far.  Ex-Met Robinson Cano makes the List as well as "SS: Francisco Lindor, 49.6...Lindor is coming off a season for which he finished runner-up in NL MVP voting after posting an .844 OPS with 33 home runs and 29 steals while playing stellar defense at short. With his great all-around play, he helped lead the Mets to the NL Championship Series. Overall, Lindor is a four-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove Award winner (he also won the Platinum Glove Award in 2016) in 10 seasons. He’s two homers shy of 250 for his career, as well as 15 steals shy of 200."

NJ.com: Rutgers baseball has added the grandson of a major league legend to its 2026 recruiting class. "Carter Sweeney-Strawberry, a rising junior outfielder at Sherwood High School in Maryland, announced Thursday that he has committed to the Scarlet Knights. In his announcement, he thanked his family — which includes one of the greatest players to ever play in New York. [Darryl Strawberry].

MLB Trade Rumors: How NL Teams Have Addressed Their Weakest Positions Of 2024. For the Mets, they cite the "(Bullpen, 0.0 bWAR): Only the Blue Jays and Rockies received less from their bullpens than the Mets in 2024, which perhaps reflects New York’s high-risk and high-reward approach to the relief corps.  The Mets had the highest reliever strikeout rate (27.7%) in baseball, but also the third-worst walk rate (10.7%), evening things out to a 4.03 bullpen ERA that ranked 17th of 30 teams...signing a more clear-cut candidate for high-leverage innings would help immensely, particularly if that reliever is left-handed."
