The Sporting News today named Buck Showalter the National League Manager of the Year. Showalter became the third manager in Mets history to be named The Sporting News NL Manager of the Year of the Year, joining Gil Hodges in 1969 and Terry Collins in 2015. Overall, it was Showalter's fourth Sporting News Manager of the Year Award (winning with the Yankees, Rangers and Orioles). Showalter became just third manager to win the award at least four times, joining Jim Leyland and Bobby Cox.

In addition, Jeff McNeil and Edwin Díaz were named to The Sporting News NL All-Star team. Selected by a panel of NL executives, The Sporting News has named an All-Star team every year since 1925.
