Danny Abriano SNY.TV: If Mets go internal at DH in 2023, here's who they should turn to. "Alvarez, who slugged .537 against lefties and 558 against righties last season for Double-A Binghamton -- where he spent most of the season -- should be the DH when he's not behind the plate....Baty, who slugged .559 against righties and .486 against lefties last season for Binghamton...should be the DH when Alvarez is behind the plate even if a lefty is on the hill."
MLB Trade Rumors:
Joel Sherman NY Post: Mets in play for another top pitcher in case Jacob deGrom bolts. "So think of the Mets doing a Zoom meeting Tuesday with Carlos Rodon as keeping doors open. In the Mets’ own best scenario, they would leave this offseason with Jacob deGrom. But they wanted to make sure that should deGrom sign elsewhere, that they land Rodon or Justin Verlander to team atop their rotation with Max Scherzer. And if not that, perhaps Japanese free agent Koudai Senga plus then using dollars saved from not securing one of the big three starters to retain Brandon Nimmo."
Baseball America had talked about the Mets Prospects on Monday. This included a prediction on the 2026 opening day lineup: Catcher Francisco Alvarez; 1B Pete Alonso; 2B Jett Williams; SS Francisco Lindor; 3B: Mark Vientos; LF Brett Baty; CF Alex Remirez; RF Ronny Mauricio; DH Kevin Parada; No. 1 Starter: Tylor Megill; (Subscription required)
Mets lost hitting coordinator Tim LaMonte to Reds, where he will be assistant hitting coach.
