Per the MLB Transaction log, the Mets have officially released Yoan Lopez. The move was made to clear roster space for recent acquisitions and to allow Yoan to sign with the Yomiuri Giants in the Japanese Baseball League. According to Francys Romero, the deal is for $1.1M guaranteed with another $400K in incentives.
The Mets also announced that have released the following Minor League players from the Dominican Summer League: DSL Mets 1 - RHP Welvis Colon; RHP Jhoxan Alfaro. DSL Mets 2 - RHP Yoerison Cepeda; RF Roberto Sanchez; RHP Yoelin Disla.
Yoan Lopez will be best know for his role in the April 27, 2022 bench clearing incident where he threw inside to Nolan Arenado after J.D. Davis was hit by a pitch earlier that game. Overall with the Mets he was 1-0 with a 5.73 ERA in 8 games. He also pitched 29 games for Syracuse last year,
