The Brooklyn Cyclones (8-12) — playing as Los Jefes de Brooklyn, as part of the organization’s first Copa de la Diversión night of the season — look the return to the win column against the Aberdeen IronBirds (8-14) — the High-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles — on Friday night at 7:00 p.m. from Maimonides Park. 

 

RHP Cameron Foster (0-2, 5.52) is expected to make the start for Brooklyn against Aberdeen’s RHP Trace Bright (0-2, 5.79).

TIDWELL’S SHARP BLADE: RHP Blade Tidwell set a career-high and a team-season-best with 10 strikeouts over 5.1 innings vs. Aberdeen on Thursday night...The 21-year-old is the first Cyclone pitcher to register 10-plus punch outs in a single game since RHP Carson Seymour struck out 10 hitters on July 22, 2022, at Jersey Shore...Tidwell was the first Brooklyn arm to whiff 10 at home since RHP Dominic Hamel accomplished the feat with 10 Ks on July 16, 2022, vs. Greensboro...Entering play on Friday, Tidwell is tied for 8th in the South Atlantic League in strikeouts (26). 

  

COPA DE LA DIVERSIÓN: Friday and Cinco de Mayo will mark Brooklyn’s first ‘Copa de la Diversión’ celebration of the 2023 season...The Cyclones will take the field as their alternate identity - Los Jefes de Brooklyn for  “Copa de la Diversión,” or “Fun Cup”...It is a season-long event series specifically designed to embrace the culture and values that resonate most with participating teams’ local U.S. Hispanic/Latino communities...Last season, Brooklyn went 2-4 were their ‘Los Jefes’ uniforms.
