11/2/2023: Mets Roster Moves - Narváez exercises player option; Carrasco Free Agent; 6 waived, 5 released

 

The New York Mets made a number of Roster Moves tonight:

The New York Mets announced via X/Twitter that Omar Narváez has exercised his player option for 2024.

Per Anthony DiComo via X/Twitter: Carlos Carrasco has become a free agent.

Also per Anthony DiComo via X/Twitter: The Mets have waived the following players:

RHP Peyton Battenfield

RHP John Curtiss

RHP Elieser Hernández

RHP Bryce Montes de Oca

RHP Denyi Reyes

OF Tim Locastro

Montes de Oca and Battenfield can be retained if unclaimed.  The others will become free agents if unclaimed.

Finally via the transaction tab on the Syracuse Mets Roster Page, the Mets have released the following DSL players:

DSL Mets Blue released RHP Ellian Nunez.

DSL Mets Blue released RHP Yeudi Lora.

DSL Mets Blue released LHP Arlison Rodriguez.

DSL Mets Blue released C Jose Marcano.

DSL Mets Orange released RHP Frelianderson Seijas.

I don't get this re Montes de Oca. Kid is just 27 with stuff equal to Aroldis Chapman's. If he's ever healthy, he very well could be better than any FA reliever not named Josh Hader. Why not wait to see if he can help us?

Montes de Oca sure looked great in 2022 before he got hurt. Mets are probably hoping he clears waivers and can be assigned to AAA.
