Tim Healey Newsday: Mets prospect Kevin Parada on first full pro season: 'It was just a good year all around'.  Tim includes this quote from Kevin: 'Obviously, there’s things I want to get better at...I got to Double-A, I got to face good pitching there, face good pitching here in the Fall League, big league-esque pitching talent-wise. I’m excited for an offseason to reset, take that information and get ready for next year.'"

Will Sammon The Athletic: Mets’ third base situation cloudy, but Brett Baty and Ronny Mauricio remain in mix. "From Stearns’ view, both players have the ability to become more consistent defenders. And it’s not from a lack of effort, either; both players — along with Vientos — participated in extra fielding work before every game. During the GM meetings, Stearns stressed the importance of the Mets needing to improve at “run prevention,” whether through better pitching, better defense or both."

Bill Madden NY Daily News: It’s disgraceful the way baseball’s analytics obsession has turned on its managers. Bill talks about the trend in baseball to bring in managers that will go along with the analytics departments and starts off with this imagined conversation when David Stearns was hired:

  • Stearns: “The first thing we have to do is get rid of Buck Showalter.”
  • Cohen: “Why?”
  • Stearns: “Because, Steve, any time you have a chance to hire Carlos Mendoza as your manager you absolutely have to do that!”

MLB.com:
  • These 13 teams could define the offseason - Mets come in at #10 with this note: "Mets might need to cool it with the free-agent stuff after the way their wild winter blew up in their face this past season...That said, does anyone really think Steve Cohen is just going to let the Ohtani market -- or, for that matter, the Yamamoto market -- move along without him?"
