The Brooklyn Cyclones (30-26) and Major League rehabbers C Francisco Alvarez and RHP Edwin DÃaz wrap up a six-game against the Aberdeen IronBirds (28-28) — the High-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles — on Sunday at 2 p.m. from Maimonides Park on Coney Island in Brooklyn, N.Y.
RHP Dakota Hawkins (2-1, 3.48) is expected to take the hill for the Cyclones in his first start since Tuesday’s combined no-hitter. The IronBirds are projected to counter with the RHP Levi Wells (0-4, 7.29)

TURN UP THE TRUMPETS!: On Thursday, RHP Edwin DÃaz became the fifth player to join the Cyclones on a Major League rehab assignment in 2024, striking out a pair in a scoreless inning...C Francisco Alvarez, RHP Drew Smith, RHP Tylor Megill, and RHP Sean Reid-Foley have also appeared on Coney Island this season...He is expected to continue his rehab stint on Sunday...DÃaz was placed on New York's 15-day injured list on May 29 with right shoulder impingement...In 20 relief appearances in 2024, the Puerto Rico native is 1-1 with a 5.40 ERA (12 ER in 20.0 IP), five saves, seven walks, and 30 strikeouts...DÃaz is a two-time All-Star and has taken home both the American League and National League Reliever of the Year award...The Mets acquired the right-hander with 2B Robinson Canó and cash considerations from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for RHP Gerson Bautista, OF Jay Bruce, RHP Justin Dunn, OF Jarred Kelenic, and RHP Anthony Swarzak on December 3, 2018.
EL TROLL RETURNS: C Francisco Alvarez has rejoined Brooklyn to continue his Major League rehab assignment...The 22-year-old went 1-for-6 with a single and two walks, catching all 9.0 innings of a combined no-hitter on Tuesday, and serving as designated hitter on Wednesday...He joined Double-A Binghamton last week and appeared in three contests for the Rumble Ponies, going 2-for-8 at the plate with two runs scored a home run, and three RBI...Alvarez has been on the New York Mets' 10-day injured list since April 20 with a left thumb sprain...As a member of the Cyclones in 2021, he set a then-franchise record with 22 home runs in 84 games...That mark is second-most in a single season in Brooklyn franchise history behind OF Stanley Consuegra's 23 in 2023...His 58 RBI in 2021 is the third-most in a single season behind Consuegra (63) in 2023 and INF Ronny Mauricio in 2021...Alvarez's .538 slugging percentage and .889 OPS rank fourth and sixth in Cyclones' single-season history.
