The Brooklyn Cyclones (6-12, 39-45) go for back-to-back victories against the Wilmington Blue Rocks (7-10, 38-45) — the High-A affiliate of the Washington Nationals — at 6:35 p.m. on Friday from Judy Johnson Field at Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Del.

RHP Dakota Hawkins (3-3, 4.31) is scheduled to take the hill for the Cyclones. The Blue Rocks are projected to counter with RHP Luke Young (2-9, 5.25).

LAST TIME OUT: The Cyclones snapped a three-game slide with a 5-1 win at Wilmington on Thursday night...Brooklyn capitalized on Blue Rocks' mistakes...The Cyclones took the lead with two runs in the sixth inning on a C Chris Suero triple and a wild pitch after a missed catch error kept the frame alive with two outs...In the ninth, Brooklyn added three insurance runs with bases-loaded walks to CF Nick Morabito, Suero, and DH Junior Tilien...Morabito and Suero each tallied two-hit games and drove in at least one run...1B Kellum Clark collected his third-straight multi-hit game, reaching base three times with two singles and a walk...RHP Kade Morris posted a quality start, earning the win with 6.0 innings of four-hit, one-run ball...LHP Ryan Ammons earned the hold, while RHP Joshua Cornielly recorded four of his six outs via strikeouts for his seventh save...RHP José Atencio suffered a tough-luck defeat for Wilmington, allowing only two unearned runs over 7.0 innings.

 

THIS DATE IN CYCLONES HISTORY: On July 12, 2006, RHP Jake Ruckle tossed 8.0 innings of one-run ball, while RHP Joe Smith posted a perfect ninth inning for the save in Brooklyn's 4-1 win at Williamsport...In 2016, 1B Pete Alonso reached base three times on a single, a double, and a walk, driving in a run in the Cyclones' 6-1 win triumph at Aberdeen...In 2018, RHPs Jaison Vilera (7.0 IP) and Mac Lozer (2.0) combined to strike out 13 hitters during a five-shutout in a 6-0 win at Aberdeen...In 2021, Alonso defended his Home Run Derby crown at Coors Field in Denver, defeating Baltimore Orioles 1B Trey Mancini in the finals...The Brooklyn legend sets a first-round record for the competition, blasting 35 home runs.
