The Brooklyn Cyclones (12-18, 45-51) hit the road for the first time since the All-Star break and open a six-game set against the Aberdeen IronBirds (16-14, 50-46) — the High-A affiliate of the Baltimore Orioles — at 7:05 p.m. on Tuesday from Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen, Md.
RHP Jack Wenninger (0-1, 3.55) — the New York Mets’ No. 30 prospect per Baseball America — is scheduled to take the hill for the Cyclones. The IronBirds are projected to counter with RHP Trey Gibson (1-1, 3.24).

THIS DATE IN CYCLONES' HISTORY: On July 30, 2006, the Cyclones shut out Aberdeen in both ends of a doubleheader, winning both games, 3-0...RHPs Nelson Portillo (6.0 IP) and Joe Smith (1.0) combine on a six-hitter in Game 1, while RHPs Jonathan Castillo (4.0 IP), Jeremy Mizell (2.0), and José De La Torre (1.0) unite on a four-hitter in Game 2...In 2012, RHP Rainy Lara struck out 10 batters over 7.0 innings of three-hit, one-run ball in a 5-1 win at Mahoning Valley...The 10-plus strikeout performance is Lara's second of the year, becoming just the third Cyclone to accomplish the feat twice in one season...In 2014, LF Michael Conforto went 3-for-3 with two runs scored, two runs batted in, and a walk, as Brooklyn used a seven-run second inning to win 9-4 vs. Auburn...In 2023, the Cyclones used nine different pitchers to beat Wilmington, 11-7, in a series finale at Maimonides Park...All nine Brooklyn batters pick up at least one hit in the victory.

GUESS WHO'S BACK?: The Cyclones reinstated two players off the injured list before Tuesday's series opener...INF Jacob Reimer was reinstated off Brooklyn's 60-day injured list, while INF William Lugo was activated from the 7-day IL...Reimer has not appeared in a game for the Cyclones this season after suffering an injury during spring training...The Mets' No. 14 prospect per MLB Pipeline and No. 22 by Baseball America, appeared in 11 rehab games between the Florida Complex League Mets and Single-A St. Lucie, hitting .250/.400/.313 with a .713 OPS, two doubles, and three runs batted in...Lugo missed a month after being placed on the 7-day IL on June 26...In 59 games with Brooklyn in 2024, the 22-year-old has posted a .179/.347/.296 line with a .643 OPS, 14 extra-base hits, four home runs, and 25 RBI.
LIKE A HAWK: RHP Dakota Hawkins became the 13th different Cyclone to be transferred to Double-A Binghamton in 2024 on Monday...In 21 appearances (eight starts) with Brooklyn, the 24-year-old accumulated a 3-3 record with 4.34 ERA (32 ER in 66.1 IP), 61 hits allowed, 20 walks, and 61 strikeouts...Hawkins made history on June 4, starting the franchise's first nine-inning no-hitter vs. Aberdeen...The Chehalis, Wash. native tossed the first 5.0 innings before handing the baton to RHPs Joey Lancellotti (1.0 IP) and Joshua Corneilly (3.0) to complete the bid.
WALK ALONG THE ALLEGHENY: On Tuesday, LHP Josh Walker became the third former Cyclone to be traded by the New York Mets since Friday...The 29-year-old was dealt to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for LHP Nicolas Carreno after being designated for assignment on July 26...In 10 Major League games this year, Walker did not have a decision with a 5.11 ERA (7 ER in 12.1 IP), six walks, and 11 strikeouts...The University of New Haven (Conn.) alum made five appearances (four starts) with Brooklyn in the 2019 and 2021 seasons, accumulating a 3-0 record with a 3.38 ERA (9 ER in 24.0 IP), 19 hits allowed, six walks, and 26 K's...Walker joined, OF Rhylan Thomas and RHP Tyler Stuart who were traded to the Seattle Mariners and Washington Nationals for RHP Ryne Stanek and OF Jesse Winker, respectively.
