Here are the Brooklyn Cyclone Game Notes for today's game.

The Brooklyn Cyclones (24-28, 57-61) look to make it consecutive victories against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws (27-25, 65-53) — the High-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies — at 6 p.m. on Saturday from Maimonides Park on Coney Island in Brooklyn, N.Y.

It will be STAR WARS™ Night at the ballpark with the first 1,500 fans through the gates receiving a Jett Williams STAR WARS™ bobblehead. Following the game, there will be Postgame Fireworks.

RHP Austin Troesser (0-0, 2.45) expects to get the ball for Brooklyn in his second High-A start and Maimonides Park debut. The BlueClaws are projected to counter with RHP Braydon Tucker (2-1, 3.96).

LAST TIME OUT: Brooklyn surged back into the win column on Friday night in front of the home crowd, behind 5.0 shutout innings from RHP Jonah Tong...The Markham, Ont. native walked only 1 while striking out 8 en route to picking up the victory and crossing the 100-strikeout plateau at the High-A level this season...Tong joins LHP Felipe De La Cruz as the 2nd pitcher to hit that mark this season for Brooklyn...Offensively, both CF Nick Morabito and 3B Junior Tilien each enjoyed 3-hit contests...Tilien drove in a pair, including an RBI double in the 6th and an RBI single in the 7th...Brooklyn's bullpen was also sharp in the victory, as RHPs Eduardo Herrera, Jake Stevenson, and Justin Lawson combined for 4.0 innings of 1-run ball while striking out a combined 4...The win simultaneously snapped Brooklyn's 3-game skid and Jersey Shore's 7-game winning streak.

THIS DATE IN CYCLONES' HISTORY: On August 24, 2013, RHP Robert Gsellman struck out 13 over 8.0 innings of 2-hit, shutout ball, earning the win in a 2-0 triumph at Vermont...RHP Johnny Magliozzi threw a scoreless 9th to complete the 3-hitter...In 2021, trailing 6-5 in the bottom of the 7th, the Cyclones tied the game on a 1B Jeremy Vasquez sacrifice fly and took the lead on 3B José Peroza's 3-run home run in a 9-6 victory vs. Aberdeen...In 2022, after trading runs in the 9th inning, Brooklyn took the lead for good on LF Matt Rudick's sacrifice fly in the 10th in a 5-4 win at Jersey Shore...In 2023, Brooklyn played a wild affair that saw 12 combined runs scored in the final 4 frames...The Cyclones scored 2 in the 9th to take the lead before surrendering the tying run in the bottom half...Brooklyn scored 3 in the top of the 10th — 2 on a 3B William Lugo single — before hanging to win 13-12 in Asheville.

THE TONG SONG: RHP Jonah Tong struck out 8 on Friday en route to his 5th win and has been magnificent for the Cyclones in 2024...Since making his South Atlantic League debut on May 2, the Markham, Ont. native leads the circuit and all High-A pitchers in strikeouts (106)...The 106 strikeouts are also 7th in the circuit overall...Since his debut, Tong is 2nd in the SAL in batting average against (.220), 3rd in ERA (3.47), 5th in WHIP (1.29), and tied for 5th in innings pitched (80.1)...Tong has been as good as any pitcher in Minor League Baseball this year, tossing 26.0 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run to start the season...Among full-season Minor Leaguers with at least 90.0 innings of work, the Markham, Ont. native is 1st in FIP (2.13), 4th in strikeout rate (34.5%), 5th in strikeouts (142), and 6th in strikeout-to-walk rate (24.3%)...Among SAL arms with at least 80.0 innings on the hill, Tong is 1st in strikeout rate (30.9%), strikeout-to-walk rate (20.1%), FIP (2.47), 4th in swinging strike percentage (13.6%), and  7th in ground ball rate (42.9%).


CENTURY MARK: LHP Felipe De La Cruz (102) and RHP Jonah Tong (106) each surpassed the 100-strikeout mark with Brooklyn this season on Wednesday and Friday, respectively…De La Cruz is the first southpaw in franchise history to reach the plateau and the duo is just the 2nd in history to both whiff 100-or-more batters in a single campaign...RHPs Joander Suárez (118) and Blade Tidwell (112) were the first to do it in 2023...De La Cruz and Tong are 2-of-6 to accomplish the feat in franchise history...RHPs Alec Kisena (102; 2021) and RHP Junior Santos (105; 2022) are the others.
