Report: Mets Sign Free Agent LHP A.J. Minter to 2 year deal

Per Joel Sherman on X: the New York Mets have signed Veteran Free Agent LHP A.J. Minter for a reported two year $22 Million deal.  

Per Marc Feinsand on X: Deal includes an opt out after 2025. 

Drafted by the Braves in the 2nd round of the 2015 Draft, A.J. has spent the last 8 seasons with the Braves.  

MLB.com: "...the left-hander was part of the Night Shift, the four relievers who shined while helping the Braves win the 2021 World Series."

MLB.com: "Minter, one of Atlanta's most reliable and effective relievers during his tenure, has pitched to a 3.28 ERA with 422 strikeouts in 348 2/3 innings since his debut in 2017. The lefty mostly pitched in setup roles, but has also served as a closer, including a career-high 15 saves in 2018."

NY Post: "Minter underwent August surgery to repair a labrum tear in his left hip. A hip impingement and lesion on his femur also were corrected. "

MLB.com posted this chart showing how his velocity has dipped over the last few seasons.  Hopefully the surgery will help fix this issue.

With this and the Jesse Winker signing, the Mets Roster is now at 40.
