Good Morning.  Happy Birthday Joe Christopher, J.C. Martin, and Ron Taylor

One year ago today, the Mets hired Dave Jauss as bench coach.  Here were some of the reports:

NY Post: Mets hire Dave Jauss as bench coach for a second time. “Jauss served as the Mets’ bench coach with manager Jerry Manuel in 2010 and was part of  player development the following season before going to the Pirates in 2012.”

NorthJersey.com: Dave Jauss: 3 things to know about NY Mets' new bench coach. 1. Wide range of experience; 2. A reunion of sorts - In 2010, he served as Jerry Manuel's bench coach. In 2011, he worked as the club's coordinator of staff development. Jauss and Rojas — who joined the Mets in 2006 — worked for the organization at the same time. Now, they'll be in the same dugout; 3. Success runs in the family. His dad Bill? A famous Chicago Tribune sportswriter.

Two years ago today:

Per the NY Post: “According to an industry source, Cespedes’ salary for 2020 has been cut from $29.5 million to less than $10 million. Furthermore, the Associated Press reported that the Mets, withholding Cespedes’ salary based on their belief he had violated his contract, paid Cespedes just over half of his $29 million salary for 2019. As per the terms of the restructured contract, Cespedes can earn about $20 million between that reduced guaranteed base salary and bonuses — essentially pay to play. The 34-year-old has been running and taking batting practice regularly, Mets general manager Brodie Van Wagenen said this week at the winter meetings.”
