NY Post: Simulated game has Mets’ Max Scherzer excited for fans. "For Scherzer, the appearance served as the perfect precursor to his Grapefruit League debut with the Mets....'It felt good,' Scherzer said. 'I have been throwing sim games and live BPs from behind the [screen], but when you actually get rid of the [screen] and get an umpire back there, it feels a little bit more real..'"

NY Post: Mets’ Robinson Cano apologizes — but doesn’t say for what. “'I’m here to apologize, first of all to the Mets organization, to my teammates, the fans and you guys,' Cano said in the press conference room at Clover Park. 'There’s no excuses for how and why. All I know is I prepared myself the past season to help this team to compete for a championship.'”

Joel Sherman NY Post: Mets’ Robinson Cano just latest steroid double standard. "But by far the most fascinating benefit for Cano is that the Mets have wrapped him in their blue and orange embrace. Buck Showalter already is talking up Cano as a leader...'What are we supposed to do?,' Showalter said. 'We’re not planning to beat up on him every day. I mean, what’s the return there? He’s wearing our colors.'”

NY Post: Mets’ reaction to looming New York vaccine mandates. “'I don’t know where we are now — we have many new guys,' [Brandon] Nimmo said. 'I do know one thing: [A mandate] would affect baseball a lot more than it did basketball, so we’ll see where we’re at.' 'I am sure that everything is going to get taken care of,' [Pete] Alonso said.'Hopefully logic prevails,' the Mets pitcher [Max Scherzer], who is vaccinated, said."

NY Post: Brandon Nimmo not sure where Mets stand with ‘completely new’ vaccine reality.

Mets Junkies: Shreve returns on a minors deal. "The 30 year old pitched to a very solid 3.20 ERA over 56.1 innings pitched. This comes after a season where Shreve pitched to a 3.96 ERA over 25 innings for the Mets. Over the last two years combined, Shreve pitched to a 1.23 WHIP and 124 ERA+."
