NY Post: Felix Mantilla, member of original 1962 Mets, dead at 90. "Felix Mantilla, who played 11 years in the big leagues and was a member of the original 1962 Mets, died this week. He was 90...While the team is most-often remembered for its then-modern record of 120 losses, Mantilla had his best full season to date, hitting 11 home runs with a .275 average."
MiLB.com: Did you see the wildest Minor League games of 2024? "May 7: The season’s single-most prodigious inning, from an offensive standpoint, came courtesy of the Syracuse Mets. These Salt City sluggers plated 14 runs against the Lehigh Valley IronPigs in the seventh inning, en route to an 18-3 win. Trayce Thompson was the hero of this massive frame, hitting a grand slam in his first at-bat and a two-run double in his second. Less successful was Hayden Senger, who came to the plate three times and made both the first and final out."
NY Post: Reliever market finally moving as Mets eye bullpen arms. "The club recently met with Tanner Scott, who is the largest domino at the top of the relief market and ideal for the Mets after a pair of dominant seasons with the Marlins and Padres. Among pitchers with at least 100 innings thrown in 2023 and ’24, the lefty’s 2.04 ERA is third best, and he has struck out 188 in 150 frames."
Mets.com: HOF ballot update: 7 big questions as announcement nears. "Last chance for Wagner -- will he close the deal? With 73.8% of the vote last year, former flamethrowing closer Billy Wagner just missed election to Cooperstown. Now he’s on his 10th and final BBWAA ballot. Will he seal the deal?"
MLB Trade Rumors: Anthony Santander, Jack Flaherty Reportedly Open To Short-Term Offers. Speculation is that this could fit into the Mets plans. Santander has a qualifying offer and would come with draft pick and other penalties. No qualifying offer attached to Jack Flaherty.
