FLUSHING, N.Y., May 27, 2022 – The New York Mets today announced the club will honor long-time Mets radio reporter Ed Coleman prior to the Saturday, May 28 game between the Mets and Phillies.
Coleman, who spent over 20 years hosting Mets pre and post game shows on WFAN and WCBS, will be presented a custom Mets jersey by Manager Buck Showalter and throw out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the 7:15 pm game.
Coleman began covering the Mets for WFAN in 1993, before retiring this offseason. An original member of WFAN since its inception in July, 1987, Coleman's brilliant interview style endeared him to listeners, players and staff.
"The Mets and their fans have been extremely lucky to have someone as dedicated and professional as Ed covering the team on a daily basis for as long as he did," Mets President Sandy Alderson said. "This is a well-deserved honor for the iconic Eddie C."
