Brian Joura Mets 360: "After getting blown out in Game 1 of the NLCS, the Mets roared back with a not-as-close-as-it-sounds, 7-3 win over the Dodgers in L.A. The Series now moves to New York for the next three games."

NY Post: Francisco Lindor ends Dodgers’ scoreless streak with Game 2 leadoff homer. "History be damned. The Mets ended the Dodgers’ scoreless steak at 33 innings as Francisco Lindor crushed a leadoff homer after an eight-pitch at bat. The 2-2 pitch was sent into the right field stands and into the Mets bullpen, which elicited a celebration as he rounded first base."

Jared Schwartz NY Post: Mark Vientos created his own motivation after crucial Dodgers decision: ‘Personal’. "With runners on second and third base in the second inning — and the Mets leading 2-0 at the time — the Dodgers opted to intentionally walk Francisco Lindor in order to face Vientos. Vientos promptly hit an emphatic grand slam to give his team a 6-0 lead in the second inning of their 7-3 win over the Dodgers in Game 2 of the NLCS at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles."

Mike Vaccaro New York Post: Mets had a perfect response after getting bullied in NLCS opener. "The Mets needed to react to the [1st game] bullying the way we’re always taught you’re supposed to from the first day of kindergarten: bully the bully. He throws an uppercut, you throw a straight right...they did send a message back to the Dodgers, seizing a 6-0 lead after two innings and grinding out a 7-3 win that ties the NLCS at 1 and 1, sends the teams back to Citi Field, which promises to be a madhouse Wednesday, with the Mets presently owning home-field advantage."

Tim Healey Newsday: Edwin Diaz, Mets' bullpen hang on in NLCS Game 2 win over Dodgers. "Twelve outs remained when Carlos Mendoza turned to his bullpen earlier than desired...Phil Maton recorded the first four outs, allowing a pair of inherited runners to score. Ryne Stanek got the next four, yielding several hard-hit batted balls but no real damage. And Edwin Diaz, combustible closer, contributed the final four, locking up the Mets’ 7-3 win over the Dodgers in Game 2 of the National League Championship Series."

Tim Healey Newsday: Mets' Brandon Nimmo playing through foot injury in NLCS. "Nimmo is playing through plantar fasciitis in his left foot despite a level of pain significant enough that if it weren’t the postseason, he probably would be on the injured list, manager Carlos Mendoza said Saturday."

1969

In Game 4 of the Fall Classic at Shea Stadium, Tom Seaver and the Mets beat the Orioles in ten innings, 2-1. The game features an outstanding run-saving diving catch of Brooks Robinson's sinking line drive with two on in the ninth inning by right fielder Ron Swoboda and a controversial play in the tenth when J.C. Martin unquestionably gets in the way of Pete Richert's throw, without the umpire not calling interference on the baserunner.

1986

In the longest postseason game ever played (4 hours and 42 minutes), the Mets clinch their third National League crown, beating Houston in sixteen innings at the Astrodome, 7-6. Trailing 3-0, Lenny Dykstra and Ray Knight spark a ninth-inning rally, which sends the game into extra innings.

Baseball Reference:

2015 - The Mets eliminate the Dodgers with a 3 - 2 win in Game 5 of the NLDS. Los Angeles takes a 2 - 1 lead against Jacob deGrom in the 1st, but Daniel Murphy, who had doubled in a run in the top of the 1st, steals third base by taking advantage of a defensive shift in the 4th and scores the tying run, then wins it with a solo homer off Zack Greinke in the 6th.
