PRESS RELEASE AND STATS - METS ACQUIRE DANIEL VOGELBACH FROM PITTSBURGH

 

FLUSHING, N.Y., July 22, 2022 – The New York Mets today announced the team has acquired infielder Daniel Vogelbach from Pittsburgh in exchange for RHP Colin Holderman. 

Vogelbach, 29, had 10 doubles, a triple, 12 home runs, 34 RBI and 29 runs scored in 75 games for the Pirates this season. He has posted a .338 on-base percentage and a .430 slugging percentage. His 11 home runs as a designated hitter are tied for the second-most in the NL behind Bryce Harper. 

Among the 178 hitters with at least 200 plate appearances against RHP this season, his 149 wRC+ is tied for 15th in the majors. He has an .817 career OPS vs. righties and 55 of his 61 career home runs have come against right-handed pitchers. 

Vogelbach has appeared in 412 games over parts of seven major league seasons with Seattle (2016-2020), Toronto (2020), Milwaukee (2020-2021) and Pittsburgh (2022). He owns a career .213/.336/.408 slashline with 61 home runs and 165 RBI.  

In addition, RHP Yoan López has been recalled from Triple-A Syracuse and will be active for tonight's game.
