FLUSHING, N.Y., July 22, 2022 – The New York Mets today announced that the club has signed first-round selection (14th overall pick) infielder Jett Williams.
This past season, Williams batted .411 with seven home runs, 41 RBI, 53 runs and 24 stolen bases at Rockwall-Heath High School (TX). He entered the draft ranked as the 15th overall prospect by Baseball America and the 21st overall prospect by MLB Pipeline. The 5-8, 175-pounder was also ranked as the No. 1 high school prospect in the state of Texas according to Perfect Game and was named to both the Perfect Game First Team Senior Preseason All-American and the Perfect Game Texas-All Region First team for the 2022 season.
The Rockwall, Texas native was selected to play in the 2021 Perfect Game National Showcase at Tropicana Field. He is a plus runner with a 6.50 60-yard dash time. Prior to signing with the Mets, Williams was committed to play at Mississippi State University.
