Second weekly FSL award for top outfield prospect

PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (July 5, 2022) – St. Lucie Mets outfielder Alex Ramirez has been named the Florida State League Player of the Week for the second time this season.

In six games from June 27-July 3, Ramirez went 8 for 21 with a home run, triple, double, seven walks, seven RBI, six runs scored and three stolen bases.

Ramirez's slash line last week was .381/.536/.667 and he had a 1.203 OPS.

Ramirez was promoted to High-A Brooklyn after Sunday night's 8-2 win over Jupiter. He played 143 games as an 18 and 19-year old for St. Lucie the last two seasons. He hit .271 with 28 doubles, 10 triples, 11 home runs and 72 RBI in his Single-A career.

Ramirez, 19, was signed by the Mets as an international free agent out of Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic in 2019. He is ranked as the Mets' No. 4 prospect by MLB Pipeline.

Ramirez was also the FSL Player of the Week for May 3-8. He went 15 for 28 in six games at Palm Beach during that span.

This is the second consecutive week a Met has won the FSL Player of the Week award. Outfielder Omar De Los Santos earned the honor the previous week.
