Mets: Snapped a six-game winning streak with tonight's loss.

• Moved to 37-15 against the NL East this season, 28-8 in series openers and 15-12 in one-run games.
• Are 9-2 in extra-innings games this season.
• Mets starters are 6-0 with a 1.38 ERA (7 ER/45.2 IP) over the last seven games.

Francisco Lindor (1-4): Singled in the fourth inning to extend his on-base streak to 19 games, the second-longest such streak of his career...Is tied with Luis Guillorme (4/17-5/22) for the second-longest on-base streak by a Met this season.

Mark Canha (0-2, RBI, BB): Evened the score at one run apiece with a sacrifice fly in the second inning.

• Began the game in left field before moving to third base at the top of the third inning...Marked his first time playing at third base since 5/2/16.

Edwin Díaz (1.0 IP, 2 K): Tossed a perfect ninth inning...Has multiple strikeouts in five of his last six appearances.

Max Scherzer (7.0 IP, 9 H, ER, 6 K): Allowed a run in the opening frame before holding the Phillies scoreless through the next 6.0 innings...Was just the second time he gave up an earned run in the first inning in 16 starts this season...His 0.60 ERA in the first inning was tied for the best in the majors (min. 15 GS) entering today.

• Finished an outing of 7.0 innings with no more than one run allowed for the seventh time this season, tied for the fourth-most such appearances in the majors.
• Allowed at least nine hits in a start for the second time this season (also, 10 on 5/8 G1 at PHI).
• Gave up three hits in the first inning alone...Had previously allowed just three first-inning hits all season...Entering today, his .061 opponents' average in the opening frame led the majors.

Jeff McNeil (0-1): Exited the game after the second inning with a right thumb laceration.

Eduardo Escobar: Was pinch-hit for in the second inning...He left the game with left side tightness and will undergo imaging.

1969	After being swept in a three-game series by Houston at the Astrodome, the eventual World Champion Mets fall ten games behind the front-running Cubs in the first-ever NL East race. The third-place New York team will finish the season at a torrid 39-11 pace, finishing the season eight games in front of Chicago.
2003	After missing nearly three months with a groin injury, Mike Piazza makes a dramatic return to the New York lineup when he homers and drives in five runs on Italian Night at Shea Stadium. The backstop's 3-for-5 performance, including a home run in the third inning, RBI single in the fourth, and a two-run single in the seventh, contributes to the Mets' 9-2 victory over the Giants.

1970 - The Reds' Jim Merritt strikes out 13 Mets en route to a 5 - 1 win in Cincinnati. 

2002:  Warring Mets co-owners Fred Wilpon and Nelson Doubleday finally complete their deal to transfer full ownership of the team to Wilpon within the next 30 days. But Doubleday will question the valuation of the team by the independent arbitrator, and the transaction will not be resolved until the fall.

2010: R.A. Dickey baffles the Phillies with his knuckleball, throwing a complete game one-hitter, for the Mets' second shutout in two nights, and their fourth consecutive shutout of the Phillies at Citi Field, dating back to a three-game sweep in May. The only hit is by opposing pitcher Cole Hamels. The Mets' run scores with two outs in the 6th, on consecutive doubles by David Wright and Carlos Beltran.
