Good Morning. Happy Birthday Eric Hanhold. Phillies-Astros rained out in Game 3, they will try again tonight, Ronny Mauricio with 2 more RBIs in the Dominican, and our own Point/Counter Point about keeping Carlos Carrasco.

Empire Sports Media: The Mets have an easy decision with starting pitcher Carlos Carrasco. "Why the Mets should ultimately let Carrasco go: There are a few reasons why the Mets should not pick up the team option Carrasco has. First, he turns 36 shortly before the start of next season. Secondly, injuries have been prevalent, as mentioned above, in 2021, and he missed some time down the stretch this last year as well."
Dave Rubin says: "Ummmmmm, NO! He will only cost them $11 million for one year. He has a good influence on the team and no other arms on the market that could adequately replace him for the price. In an off-season of some uncertainty & not wanting to move prospects again for another arm, it makes too much sense to stick with who they know one more time before eventually turning that spot over permanently to either Megill or Peterson in 2024."
George Vecsey now has a Blog where, among other things, he talks about the Mets. From earlier this month: Love Story, RIP Mets that includes this very valid point "But I’ll tell you the worst thing to happen to the Mets in 2022:, when a record-setting 122 Mets hitters were hit by pitches. The worst was when Starling Marte was whacked on his right hand on Sept. 6."
"While Lugo isn't the dominant force he was in 2018 and 2019, he is still very valuable. And he was one of the Mets' main bridges to Edwin Díaz in 2022."
