NY Post: MLB investigating if Mets, Yankees communicated improperly about Aaron Judge. The issue stems from a Nov. 3 article by SNY that reported in part that, “Mets sources said that they did not plan to fight the Yankees this offseason for Judge.” That stance originated in April, after Judge turned down the Yankees’ extension offer before Opening Day, but had not changed since then, according to SNY.
Here's how I linked to that original story on the next day's Morning Links:
Andy Martino SNY.TV: Reminder: Mets will not be fighting Yankees for Aaron Judge. "Owners Steve Cohen and Hal Steinbrenner enjoy a mutually respectful relationship, and do not expect to upend that with a high-profile bidding war. The only way people involved can see the Mets changing course and pursuing Judge would be if the Yankees somehow declared themselves totally out of the bidding."
NY Post: Mets may have to pay big price for rest of bullpen behind Edwin Diaz. "...teams have been paying a hefty sum to add relievers — even those without sustained track records of success...Adam Ottavino, Seth Lugo, Trevor May, Joely Rodriguez, Trevor Williams, Mychal Givens and Tommy Hunter — are free agents...Even if the Mets are interested in bringing back any of those relievers, they all likely will be in for raises..."
SNY.TV: Mets free agency and trade buzz: Justin Verlander seeking deal similar to Max Scherzer.
Danny Abriano SNY.TV: Pros and Cons: Should the Mets sign Jose Abreu? Abreu could be a perfect fit for the Mets at DH. Danny cites Abreu's age (turning 36 in January 2023) and the potential cost after they possibly re-sign deGrom and/or Nimmo but notes "Even with Abreu's home run power dipping in 2022, he was still one of the best hitters in baseball, and was an on-base machine. Abreu slashed 304/.378/.446 while striking out just 110 times.."
Abbey Mastracco New York Daily News: Assessing the Mets prospect pool. Abby notes how the Mets did not add anyone to their 40-man roster on Tuesday as she looks at the Mets system noting that "Four Mets’ prospects made MLB Pipeline’s top-100 list this year, catcher Francisco Alvarez (No. 1), third baseman Brett Baty (No. 18), catcher Kevin Parada (No. 37) and outfielder Alex Ramirez (No. 85). Only Baty and Alvarez could be considered high-level minor leaguers...Contrast that with the Los Angeles Dodgers system, which has seven prospects ranked in the top 100, all of which are ready for the big leagues or close to it."
"How many times did I play Francisco Lindor's daughter's [video message] last night?"

As reported, the #Mets were supposedly going to build a new scoreboard that would be ready for the 2023 season. Seems like the renovation is underway. #LGM pic.twitter.com/iEDb2vERzH
