Mike Puma NY Post: Mets believe Jacob deGrom prefers to stay if contracts are similar. "A free agent after opting out from his contract, deGrom is seeking a new deal that would position him as MLB’s highest-paid pitcher, ahead of the Mets’ Max Scherzer. The Mets have received enough indications from deGrom’s camp, according to a source, that they believe the two-time Cy Young award winner wants to stay, provided there isn’t a significant discrepancy in offers."
In that same article, Mike Puma talks about hos the Mets are also looking at Justin Verlander and Carlos Rodon.
NY Post: Mets owner Steve Cohen betting big on Queens casino after Eric Adams backs NYCFC stadium. "He’s dropped a fortune trying to score government support to build a casino next to Citi Field, and now Mets owner Steve Cohen is banking on a nearby soccer stadium project to help him hit the jackpot....'They view the stadium plan as big selling point for the casino', said a City Hall operative. 'Anything that shows the state that more people will be coming to the Willets Point area will only help the casino plan.'
