"The Mets were not expected to retain Rodriguez, but his departure only emphasizes the work they will have to do to rebuild their bullpen this offseason...As the only full-time lefty in the bullpen, Rodriguez posted a 4.47 ERA with 57 strikeouts and 26 walks in 50 ¹/₃ innings." 

As we had yesterday on Mets News and Links"The New York Mets announced today that the club has signed pitchers Zach Muckenhirn and Denyi Reyes to minor league contracts with an invitation to major league Spring Training. Muckenhirn, 27, appeared in 47 games with Triple-A Charlotte in the Chicago White Sox organization last season, going 3-1 with two saves and a 3.11 ERA (19 ER/55.0 IP) with 23 walks and 56 strikeouts. Reyes, 26, made his major league debut as a member of the Baltimore Orioles in 2022. He appeared in three games (one start) with the club, posting a 2.35 ERA (2 ER/7.2 IP) with a walk and three strikeouts. In seven minor league seasons, Reyes owns a 45-28 record with a 3.29 ERA (218 ER/596.1 IP), 89 walks and 526 strikeouts." The Mets' former closer John Franco signs a three-year pact as a set-up man to stay with his hometown team, foregoing an opportunity to close for the Phillies. The 40 year-old Staten Island resident, who needs 59 saves to break Lee Smith's career record of 478, lost his closing job to Armando Benitez during the 1998 season.

The Marlins cut their payroll when the team sends last season's premiere free agent Carlos Delgado (.301, 33, 115) and $7 million to the Mets for Mike Jacobs (10 homers in 100 at-bats), minor league infielder Grant Psomas and Yusmeiro Petit, a highly touted pitching prospect. In January, the free-agent first baseman left Toronto after 12 years of service to sign a four-year deal worth a reported $52 million to play for Florida.
