As we had yesterday on Mets News and Links: The Major League Players Association announced that Jacob deGrom and Taijuan Walker opted out of their contracts and became Free Agents.

I think the Mets will make a strong pitch for deGrom and not be outbid but he may possibly go elsewhere.  Especially if the rumor that he wants to play closer to his home in Florida is accurate.  I think they will also try to keep Taijuan Walker but as a Boras client, his agent will want to wait and try to get the highest contract possible.  I am not sure the Mets will want to wait as long as Scott Boras will.

John Harper SNY.TV: 5 bold Mets predictions for 2022-23 MLB offseason. "If Jacob deGrom signs elsewhere, Steve Cohen will be able to spend in other areas." John's predictions: "1. Jacob deGrom signs with Texas Rangers for four years, $180 Million." "2. Mets sign Carlos Rodon" "3. Mets sign Joc Pederson" "4. Mets Sign David Robertson, Robert Suarez"  "5. Mets re-sign Brandon Nimmo, Chris Bassitt, Taijuan Walker"

Gem Tablak Mets Junkies:  Mets that won’t be back in 2023 (Part 2).  Gem makes some good points on why Tijuan Walker, Jacob deGrom, and Dom Smith won't be back.
