12/31/2022 Mets Roster Moves - Mets sign CF Lorenzo Cedrola to a minor league deal, assign to Syracuse.

 According to the MiLB transaction log, the New York Mets have signed CF Lorenzo Cedrola to a minor league contract and have assigned him to the Syracuse Mets. 

In addition, the Mets have re-signed recent minor league free agent catchers Jose Mena and Oscar Campos.  

Originally signed by the Boston Red Sox as an International Free Agent in 2015, Lorenzo Cedrola was traded to the Reds in 2018.  Last year in Louisville in 124 games, 504 at bats he hit 4 Home Runs with 41 RBIs - .267/.303/.356 with a .659 OPS;  In 502 minor league games in the outfield, he has played 434 in CF(just 12 errors), 144 in RF and 55 in LF.  He most likely will be a replacement for Jake Mangum who was traded to the Marlins on December 8th.  He will share the Syracuse Outfield with Khalil Lee and recently signed Abraham Almonte. Lorenzo will turn 25 in January.

Oscar Campos was signed as a minor league free agent by the Mets after starting his career with the Astros. He saw action in 8 games with Brooklyn in 2021 but injuries limited him to just 3 games with St. Lucie in 2022. Oscar just turned 26 this month.

Jose Mena, the starting catcher on the 2019 Brooklyn Cyclones Championship team is a defensive first catcher with occasional power. Jose had 8 homers in 306 at-bats last year for Brooklyn. Jose also just turned 26 this month.
