"The one problem is Rivera throws inside to left-handers and left-handers get a lot of broken-bat hits into the shallow part of the outfield. That's the danger of bringing the infield in with a guy like Rivera on the mound."

Mets.com:
- Playing in US? Just another fork(ball) in the road for Senga
- Scherzer, Verlander ready for winning reunion
- McCarver, champion catcher turned famed broadcaster, dies at 81
- These 30 prospects are vying for jobs in Spring Training "Baty, however, has a real case to be the Mets’ Opening Day third baseman now that he’s healed from a right thumb injury. The 23-year-old is certainly capable of hitting the ball hard, and his launch angle improved in 2022 to the point where it’s less of a question of him living up to his plus power potential. Eduardo Escobar may be the more veteran presence, but after the Carlos Correa debacle, Baty is the long-term answer at the hot corner."
- Mays' last dance in NY came with '73 Mets - Bill Ladson continues his great series on the 1973 Mets with new information in every piece. Here he talks about Willie Mays, his knee problems and how "Mays looked out for everybody on the team. If the team went out to dinner and left-hander Jon Matlack was pitching the next day, Mays would tell him, 'Go home and get some sleep. You are pitching tomorrow.'”
