Mets Links:

The Mets announced their full player development staff yesterday including full coaching staffs for each minor league team.

In case you missed each team's individual announcement on the staffs with more details on all the coaches here the links for the Syracuse Mets, Binghamton Rumble Ponies, Brooklyn Cyclones and St. Lucie Mets

Yesterday, Billy Eppler spoke to the Press yesterday.  The Mets YouTube channel posted the full session which is below.  Here are some of the highlights:

About Khalil Lee: "[I talked] to the commissioner's office today and was told that we can have Khalil Lee report to minor league camp on March 2nd...nothing else to kind of add on that...that is an ongoing investigation."

About defense: "got to play defense here...got to play defense...we have a big ballpark and I think that was probably demonstrated last year by some of the personnel decisions that we made that defense is important and it's critical I mean if we're going to play a championship caliber baseball...we have to be able to to be great in all areas...in the batter's box...in the field...on the mound"

About Ronny Mauricio switching positions: "he had a really good winter ball...he's logged a lot of plate appearances...he's [had] over 750 plate appearances [between last season and Winter Ball]...he's a big strong kid but...we're aware of the fuel tank right now and so we'll just watch him...he'll play exclusively SS...maybe if there's a game situation that comes up, Buck might slide him to third because he did it a little bit in the Winter Ball but that's going to be more out of necessity...I rely on our scouting department...I rely on our analytics department and I rely on our coordinators. Miguel Cairo [Mets Infield Coordinator] and I have talked about that [Mauricio switching positions] a number of times we'll just keep getting updates throughout the season..."

About Francisco Alvarez making the team: "if Francisco is on our club...if he makes our team or if he shows up we want to make sure we can catch him because the long-term trajectory for this for this young man is is to be able to catch and so we have to be able to to satisfy that up here...it would not be a pure DH situation"

About Brett Baty's improvement in the field: "the early reads I'm getting from [Mets Coach] Joey [Cora] and Miguel is that you know there's some agility improvement that happened so that tells me that he did a lot of the conditioning programming that was given to him in the winter time..."

Other MLB franchises being upset about  how much the Mets spend: "nobody's called me and told me that...I just do my job and if Steve says put together the best team we can and gives us the resources to do it I do it"

Carlos Beltran's Role: "a large portion of of his role is going to be you know supporting the development side and you know I always say that development continues at the major league level too so you never stop developing...so he'll contribute on that side but also you know perhaps a little bit of the evaluative side where I might have him see an amateur hitter or two or three you know in advance of the draft or maybe even somebody that we're thinking about internationally...we'll learn a lot from each other and I'm really glad to have his perspective...I talk about diversity of thought in a room to try to walk around a problem all the way...Carlos will be able to provide that for our baseball group"

Here is the entire session:

More of yesterday's Spring Training Highlights:

Phil Mushnick NY Post: Tim McCarver reinvigorated career of Mets legend Ralph Kiner.  "...the Mets’ TV team of McCarver and Kiner became entertaining, thought-provoking, amusing and quotable. They never talked down to us, always kept our heads in the game or The Game. McCarver made that happen."  After praising McCarver, Phil writes an anti-Rob Manfred section that questions Rob's knowledge and love of the game as only Phil can do.
