Yesterday, the Mets announced the following Roster Moves:
Per the Transaction Tab on the New York Mets Roster Page:
The New York Mets have released 1B Darin Ruf.
A 2022 trade deadline deal, the Mets acquired Ruf "from San Francisco in exchange for infielder J.D. Davis, LHP Thomas Szapucki, minor league RHP Carson Seymour and minor league LHP Nick Zwack.
Since Ruf is signed through the 2023 season, any team can now claim him for the major league minimum salary and the Mets will be required to pay the balance.
The Mets designated Ruf for assignment on March 27th: He was slowed by a wrist injury in the early part of Spring. In 11 Spring games, Darin slashed .165/.267/.233 with no homers and 1 RBI.
Per the Transaction Tab on the Syracuse Mets Roster Page:
- Syracuse Mets placed RHP Jeff Brigham on the 7-day injured list.
This Spring, Jeff had a 1-0 record in 8 games, 8.2 innings, 5 hits, 3 runs, 3 earned runs, 4 walks, 12 Ks - 3.12 ERA.
Elieser Hernandez is still on the Mets MLB roster but also on the IL (15 day).
