Here are the Brooklyn Cyclone Game Notes for today's game.

The Brooklyn Cyclones (23-32) battle the Greenville Drive (32-24) — the High-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox — in the series finale on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. from Maimonides Park on Coney Island. 

RHP Blade Tidwell (2-3, 4.93) — the Mets’ top pitching prospect —­ is scheduled to take the hill for Brooklyn against the Red Sox’ No. 24 prospect per Baseball America, Greenville’s RHP Ángel Bastardo (0-4, 4.34).

LAST TIME OUT: The Cyclones dropped a pair of contests to the Drive on Saturday afternoon and evening...Greenville captured the lid-lifter, 9-2, and secured the nightcap in 8 innings, 2-1...The Drive tallied 3 in the 2nd inning and added 6 in the 7th in Game 1...DH Miguel Ugueto added a 2-run single for Greenville in the 7th...Drive RHP Wikelman González struck out 9 over 5.1 innings for his 3rd win...C Drake Osborn provided a solo home run for Brooklyn in Game 2...Greenville took the lead for good in the 8th on a C Ronald Rosario RBI single...RHP Tyler Stuart whiffed 9 over 5.0 frames of 1-run ball. 

 

BLADE CUTS ‘EM DOWN: RHP Blade Tidwell is in the midst of his best stretch of baseball in 2023...The 21-year-old did not factor into the decision last Sunday but hurled 2.2 innings without allowing an earned run...Over his last 4 starts dating back to May 17 at Hudson Valley, Tidwell is 2-0 with a 1.10 ERA (2 ER in 16.1 IP) with just 6 hits allowed...The Loretto, Tenn. native has walked 16 and struck out 23...Tidwell’s strikeout rate is 32.4% during the stretch and opponents hold a meager .106 batting average (6-55) against him. 

 

TY-NAMIC: At 6-foot-9, RHP Tyler Stuart struck out 9 in Game 2 on Saturday and has been as consistent and imposing as any starting pitcher in the South Atlantic League in 2023...The 23-year-old permitted just 2 earned runs over 25.1 frames (0.71 ERA) in 5 starts during May...Stuart leads the SAL and all of High-A in ERA (1.47)...Only RHP José Ramírez (1.24) of Boston’s Single-A Salem has a better mark...Stuart is also tied for 8th in the circuit in strikeouts (61) and 10th in innings pitched (49.0)...The Kankakee, Ill. native leads the league in LOB% (86.8%) and FIP (2.66), 4th in xFIP (3.27), 6th in strikeout rate (30.5%), and 7th in strikeouts per 9 innings (11.20). 

 

JEFE JEFFREY: RHP Jeffrey Colón suffered the loss in Game 1 on Saturday, but permitted just 1 earned run over 5.1 innings...The 23-year-old also matched a career-best with 9 strikeouts on May 26 vs. Winston-Salem...That equaled his total from last August 28 at Jersey Shore...In his last 4 appearances (3 starts), Colón is 1-0 with a 1.93 ERA (4 ER in 18.2 IP), allowing 14 hits and 8 walks, striking out 21...In his last 3 starts at Maimonides Park, Colón has hurled 18.2 innings, allowing 6 runs (4 earned) on 13 hits...The Las Matas de Farfán, D.R. native has a 1.93 ERA and permitted only 6 walks, and punched out 20 in that span. 

 

THE BEST AROUND: The Cyclones’ pitching staff has been marvelous over the course of the team’s last 24 games...Since May 17, Brooklyn has permitted just 55 earned runs (79 total) on 156 hits through the last 202.0 innings...That is good for a 2.45 ERA...That mark is the best in the SAL and the High-A level...It is also the best ERA in all of Minor League Baseball in that stretch...Only Kansas City’s Single-A Columbia (2.49) is 2nd in the minors...Cyclones’ pitching has walked 91 (10.7 BB%) and struck out 245 in that span (28.9 K%)...The ‘Clones have outscored opponents, 98-79, over the 24-game stretch...Brooklyn is 12-12 during that span. 

 

RELIEF READY: The Cyclones’ relief staff has been exquisite at quelling fires in 2023...Entering Sunday, Brooklyn has the best bullpen ERA (3.19) in the entire South Atlantic League and among all High-A teams...Hudson Valley (3.36) is 2nd in the circuit and the Twins’ High-A Cedar Rapids is 2nd (3.22) in the classification...The Cyclones’ relief ERA is also the best in the New York Mets’ farm system and 4th best in all of MiLB...Kansas City’s Single-A Columbia leads MiLB (2.98). 

 

DYLAN THROWS HOT FIRE: RHP Dylan Tebrake has been nearly untouchable since being reinstated from Brooklyn’s injured list...Since being activated on May 14, the 23-year-old has made 7 relief appearances...Tebrake has not allowed an earned run (1 total) on 3 hits and 4 walks over 11.1 innings, registering 19 strikeouts (15.1 K/9)...That equates to a 45.2 K% (19/42).
