Here are the Brooklyn Cyclone Game Notes for today's game.

The Brooklyn Cyclones (4-1, 32-38) go for their second-straight victory against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws (3-2, 38-32) — the High-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies — on Friday evening at 7 p.m. from Maimonides Park on Coney Island. 

RHP Blade Tidwell (4-3, 3.83) — the Mets’ No. 7 prospect per Baseball America — is scheduled to take the hill for Brooklyn against Jersey Shore’s RHP Gunner Mayer (1-3, 4.43).

LAST TIME OUT: The Cyclones returned to the win column with a 4-1 triumph over the BlueClaws on Thursday night...Brooklyn tallied 3 runs in the bottom of the first on a 2-run 3B William Lugo home run and an RBI double from LF Omar De Los Santos...SS Junior Tilien added a solo shot in the 2nd...RF Stanley Consuegra went 1-for-4 with a double in his first game since being reinstated from the injured list...3B Nick Ward and DH Wilfredo Flores each tallied multi-hit games to account for 4 of Jersey Shore’s 5 hits...RHP Tyler Stuart tossed 7.0 innings of 1-run ball to earn his 3rd win...RHP Jace Beck and LHP Quinn Brodey each hurled a scoreless frame of relief to collect a hold and save, respectively. 

 

PITCHING IN: Since the start of a 4-game winning streak at Hudson Valley on May 17, the Cyclones’ pitching staff has, statistically, been the most dominant in Minor League Baseball...Entering Friday, Brooklyn has posted a MiLB-low 2.57 ERA (96 ER in 336.0 IP) over their last 39 games, holding a 21-18 record in that span...The Yankees’ High-A Hudson Valley (2.79) is 2nd in the minors...The Cyclones have hurled 5 shutouts in that span and hold a strikeout rate of 27.8% and a walk rate of 11.8%...Additionally, Brooklyn pitching has permitted the fewest home runs (10) in MiLB over that time period...The Cyclones are also 2nd in MiLB in opposing OPS (.594), and 3rd in hits-per-9 innings (6.67)...RHPs Blade Tidwell (1.35) and Tyler Stuart (1.43) hold the 4th and 5th best ERA’s in MiLB during that time. 

 

RELIEF READY: The Cyclones’ relief staff has been exquisite at quelling fires in 2023...Entering Friday, Brooklyn has the best bullpen ERA (3.08) in the entire South Atlantic League and among all High-A teams...The Brewers’ High-A Wisconsin is 2nd (3.24) in the classification, while Hudson Valley (3.42) is 2nd in the circuit...The Cyclones’ relief ERA is also the best in the New York Mets’ farm system and 2nd best in all of MiLB...Kansas City’s Single-A Columbia leads MiLB (3.07). 

 

BLADE RUNNER: RHP Blade Tidwell is in the midst of his best stretch of baseball in 2023...The 22-year-old has tossed consecutive quality starts dating back to last Saturday at Aberdeen...Tidwell has earned the win in both outings, permitting just 1 run on 7 hits over 13.0 innings...He has walked 4 and struck out 15 in those contests...He tied a career-best with 10 strikeouts on June 11 vs. Greenville...Tidwell also whiffed 10 on May 4 vs. Aberdeen...Over his last 7 starts dating back to May 17 at Hudson Valley, Tidwell is 4-0 with a 1.35 ERA (5 ER in 33.1 IP) with just 17 hits allowed...The Loretto, Tenn. native has walked 24 and struck out 48 (12.96 K/9)...Tidwell’s strikeout rate is 35.0% during the stretch and opponents hold a meager .150 batting average (17-113) against him...Tidwell leads the South Atlantic League in batting average against (.150) and is 3rd in ERA (1.35) and strikeouts (48) since that date (min. 30.0 IP)...On the season, the Loretto, Tenn. native is 9th in the SAL in punchouts (75). 

 

STU-PENDOUS: RHP Tyler Stuart tossed 7.0 more innings of 1-run ball on Thursday, earning his 3rd win...He set career-highs in innings pitched (7.2) and strikeouts (11), in his previous start on June 22 vs. Hudson Valley...The 23-year-old was the first Cyclone to record 11+ strikeouts in a single game since RHP Carson Seymour accomplished the feat on July 15, 2022, vs. Greensboro...Stuart was also the first Brooklyn arm to work into the 8th inning since RHP Conner Grey tossed 8.1 innings vs. Jersey Shore on July 16, 2021...The Southern Miss alum was the first Cyclone to work 7.0+ innings and record 10+ strikeouts in a single game since LHP Kevin Canelon whiffed 10 over 8.0 frames at Hudson Valley on August 25, 2015...Stuart leads all qualifiers in the  SAL, High-A, and all of Minor League Baseball in ERA (1.42)...Wilmington’s LHP Jake Bennett (1.77) is 2nd in the minors...The Kankakee, Ill. native leads the league in LOB% (89.1%), is 2nd in FIP (3.03), 4th in xFIP (3.39), WHIP (1.06), batting average against (.206), and innings pitched (69.2), 5th in strikeouts (79), 8th in strikeout rate (28.4%), 9th in strikeouts-per-9 innings (10.21), 10th in walk rate (7.9%),  

 

CAPTAIN KEVIN: C Kevin Parada has picked up the pace offensively over the last few weeks...Dating back to June 6 vs. Greenville, the 21-year-old is slashing .333/.389/.591 with a .980 OPS and 165 wRC+ in 17 games...Parada has accrued 8 runs scored, a double, 2 triples, 4 home runs, 14 RBI, 5 walks, and a hit-by-pitch...Additionally, the Pasadena, Calif. native enters Friday on a 9-game hitting streak (14-for-35; .400/.447/.800) and a 14-game on-base streak (.340/.407/.604)...The former Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket enters Friday tied for 5th in the South Atlantic League in doubles (15), 7th in extra-base hits (25), tied for 7th in total bases (106) and tied for 9th in hits (64).
