AKRON, OH – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies again used a recipe of strong starting pitching and timely hitting in their 8-2 win over the Akron RubberDucks Thursday night at Canal Park. Binghamton (34-31) has won four games in a row and are now a season-high three games over .500.

Ponies RHP Dom Hamel (3-4) allowed just three hits and two runs over six innings with two walks and seven strikeouts. He struck out the side on two separate occasions. Hamel has now gone at least six innings and allowed two runs or less in two of his last three starts.

In the second, down 1-0 to Akron (32-33) with a runner off second and two out, the Ponies offense went to work. Warren Saunders drove home Senger with an RBI double to left to tie the game. Branden Fryman, Rowdey Jordan, and Jose Peroza all added RBI singles to put Binghamton up 4-1.

Saunders would blast a solo homer over the left field wall to lead off the fourth to extend the Ponies advantage to 5-1. It is his first home run of the season. He also added an RBI single as part of a two-run seventh that put Binghamton up 7-2. Saunders finished 3-5 with three RBIs and two runs scored, finishing a triple shy of the cycle.

Jose Peroza also finished with a three-hit game, extending his on-base streak to 13 games.

The two teams continue their series on Friday afternoon as they play a doubleheader in Akron with first pitch of game one at 5:00 PM. Game two will follow approximately 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one. The NYCM Insurance Pregame Show begins at 4:45 PM with both games airing on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network.
