READING, PA – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (25-28) fell to the Reading Fightin Phils 2-1 in 10 innings on Friday night at FirstEnergy Stadium. Carlos De La Cruz’ walk-off RBI single in the tenth was the difference in the game.
De
La Cruz drove in both Reading (21-32) runs. In the third, his RBI single tied
the game at one. In the tenth, with runners on second and third with two out,
his single drove home the game-winning run from third.
The
Rumble Ponies got on the board first on a Jose Peroza solo homer in the second
inning over the high wall in center field against Reading starter Mick Abel. It
is Peroza’s seventh home run of the season.
Binghamton
starter Luis Moreno allowed just one run over a season-high seven innings. He
issued only two walks and tied a season-high with seven strikeouts in the no
decision. Daniel Juarez allowed only one hit and did not allow an earned run
over two and a third innings of relief.
The
two teams continue their series with a doubleheader Saturday. First pitch of
game one is at 5:15 PM, with game two to begin approximately 30 minutes after
the conclusion of game one. The NYCM Insurance Pregame Show begins at 5:00 PM
on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network.
Postgame
Notes: Joe Suozzi reached base in all four of his at bats as he
finished with two hits, one walk, and was hit by a pitch…the game was delayed
due to rain by one hour and 34 minutes.
