The Brooklyn Cyclones (5-2, 33-39) try and return to the winner’s circle against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws (4-3, 39-33) — the High-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies — on Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. from Maimonides Park on Coney Island. 

RHP Joander Suárez (3-5, 6.70) is scheduled to make the start for Brooklyn against Jersey Shore’s LHP Rafael Marcano (3-5, 4.57).

LAST TIME OUT: Brooklyn was blanked by Jersey Shore on Saturday night, 4-0...3B Nick Ward composed 2 hits, including a solo home run for the BlueClaws in the 4th...C Aramis García drove in a pair of runs as part of a rehab assignment — collecting a sacrifice fly in the 5th and an RBI double in the 7th...2B Hao Yu Lee registered 3 hits, while SS Erick Brito accrued 2 for the ‘Claws...CF Alex Ramírez and LF Abraham Almonte each tallied multi-hit contests for Brooklyn...RHP Zach Haake went 5.0 shutout innings to earn the win in his Jersey Shore debut...RHP Cam Wynne, RHP Malik Binns, LHP Wesley Moore, and LHP Jordi Martínez each tallied a scoreless inning of relief, combining with Haake for a 6-hit shutout...Major League rehabber — RHP Elieser Hernández — suffered the loss after permitting an unearned run over 2.0 frames...RHP Sean Reid-Foley yielded a run in 0.2 innings in his rehab outing for Brooklyn. 

 

YO-JOANDER: RHP Joander Suárez continues to hit his stride after returning from Tommy John surgery in June of 2021...The 23-year-old set a new career high with 6+ innings of work in last Tuesday’s defeat and added another scoreless inning in relief, earning the win, on Sunday...Suárez allowed just 1 run on 2 hits, walking 3 and striking out a season-high-matching 8 on Tuesday...Over his last 3 appearances (2 starts), Suárez has a 1-1 record and a 3.00 ERA (4 ER in 12.0 IP)...The Cumaná, Venezuela native has punched out 16 and walked 6, allowing just 6 hits...Suárez holds a rate of 12.0 strikeouts-per-9 innings and a strikeout rate of 33.3% (16/48) in that span. 

 

LUCKY NUMBER SEVEN: On Thursday and Friday, RHP Tyler Stuart and RHP Blade Tidwell became the first pair of Cyclones starters to toss 7.0-plus innings in consecutive games during the 2022 season...It was the first time Brooklyn had their starting pitcher toss 7.0-full frames in consecutive contests since three arms did it in three-straight days in 2022...RHP Luis Moreno (September 7), RHP Dominic Hamel (September 8), and RHP Jeffrey Colón (September 9) all went 7.0 frames in the final series of the regular season at Winston-Salem.
