affiliate of the Washington Nationals — on Friday night at 6:35 p.m. from
Frawley Stadium in Wilmington, Del.
LHP Eli
Ankeney (2-0, 1.59) is scheduled to make his first professional start for
Brooklyn as part of a bullpen day against Wilmington’s RHP Rodney Theophile (0-3,
3.86).

LOST IN THE ‘CORN’: RHP Joshua Cornielly has
hit his stride over the last 2-plus months for the Cyclones’ bullpen...Since
allowing 5 runs in 0.1 innings on April 15 at Winston-Salem, the 22-year-old
has been as consistent as any relief arm on the staff...Dating back to April 21
vs. Wilmington, Cornielly holds a 2-1 record with a 1.88 ERA (6 ER in 28.2 IP)
in 15 appearances (1 start)...The Caraças, Venezuela native has permitted 24
hits, walked 10 (8.4 BB%), and struck out 35 (29.4 K%)...Among South Atlantic
League pitchers with one or fewer starts since that date, Cornielly ranks
second in the league in ERA (1.88) trailing only teammate RHP Paul Gervase (1.32)...He
is also 4th in walk-to-strikeout rate (.286) and 5th in walks-per-9 innings
(3.14) in that span.
