Game Recap and Highlights: Schwartz Leads Ponies to Victory Over Reading in Return to Lineup

READING, Pa. – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (9-14, 44-48) knocked off the Reading Fightin Phils 6-3 on Thursday night at FirstEnergy Stadium, led by JT Schwartz.

Schwartz returned to the lineup for the first time since May 12 and recorded two hits and three runs batted in. The 23-year-old had a two-run single in the fifth inning and an RBI hit in the ninth.

Tyler Stuart earned the first win of his Double-A career, as he tossed five innings of three-run ball with four strikeouts.

The Ponies took a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a two-out RBI single from Brandon McIlwain. They added another run in the second inning on a solo home run from Hayden Senger that made it 2-0.

Reading (11-12, 39-52) scored its first run in the second inning when Max McDowell grounded into a double play and Cam Cannon scored to make it 2-1. Cannon tied the game for Reading in the fourth with a solo homer that made it 2-2.

Schwartz hit the two-run single in the fifth after Wyatt Young walked and Rowdey Jordan singled, which made it 4-2 Binghamton. The Fightin Phils responded with a run in the fifth on a sacrifice fly from Matthew Kroon that made Binghamton's lead 4-3

The Ponies added two more insurance runs in the ninth inning. Young had a sacrifice fly and Schwartz hit a two-out RBI single.

William Woods earned the five-out save with two strikeouts. Daniel Juarez tossed 2.1 scoreless innings in relief.

The Rumble Ponies will continue their series against the Fightin Phils on Friday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7 PM and pregame coverage will begin at 6:50 PM on the WNBF Rumble Ponies Radio Network.

Postgame Notes: Schwartz recorded his eighth multi-hit game and fourth three-RBI game…Senger had a multi-hit game with a homer and double…Agustin Ruiz had a multi-hit game…Jaylen Palmer had two hits and two stolen bases…Woods earned his fifth save in five opportunities.
