The Brooklyn Cyclones (20-11, 48-48) continue their series against the Jersey Shore BlueClaws (16-15, 51-45) — the High-A affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies — on Wednesday afternoon at 12:05 p.m. from ShoreTown Ballpark in Lakewood, N.J. 

RHP Jordany Ventura (1-0, 3.65 ERA) — the Mets’ No. 24 prospect per Baseball America — is scheduled to take the hill for Brooklyn against Jersey Shore’s RHP Gunner Mayer (1-5, 5.94 ERA).

LAST TIME OUT: Jersey Shore captured the opening game of the series with a 6-3 win over Brooklyn on Tuesday night...BlueClaws scored 4 unearned runs in the bottom of the 6th with the help of 3 Cyclone errors... Brooklyn tallied all 3 runs in the top of the 5th on a SS Jett Williams’ double and a 2-run single by CF Alex Ramírez...Williams went 1-for-2 in his debut, adding 3 walks and a stolen base...Ramírez had a multi-hit and multi-RBI night, while LF Rhylan Thomas collected a pair of knocks, including a double...1B Jacob Reimer went 0-for-3 with a walk in his team debut...3B Nick Ward, DH Leandro Pineda, C Andrick Nava posted multi-hit nights for Jersey Shore...RF Gabriel Rincones Jr. posted a 2-run double for the ‘Claws in the 1st...RHP Bailey Reid punched out 3 of the 4 batters he faced in his Brooklyn debut...RHP Konnor Ash collected strikeouts for 5 of his 6 outs, earning his 2nd win...LHP Andrew Walling struck out the side in the 9th for his first SAL save. 

ALEX THE AMAZING: Since the start of June, OF Alex Ramírez is 3rd in the South Atlantic League in runs scored (36) and 5th in pitches-per-plate appearance (3.971) (min. 200 PA)...Since his 6-hit game on July 21 at Hudson Valley, the 20-year-old has accrued multi-hit games in 6 of his last 9 outings...In that span, Alex is slashing .463/.465/.634 with a 1.099 OPS...Ramírez is 19-for-41 at the plate (.463) with 7 runs scored, 4 doubles, a home run, 8 RBI, and 3 stolen bases...Ramírez has 3 more hits (19) than any other player in the SAL during that span...He is also on a 6-game hitting streak since the start of last week’s homestand vs. Wilmington...Ramírez is 12-for-26 (.462) with 2 doubles, a home run, and 7 RBI...Alex is scattered among the Cyclones’ all-time leaderboard despite joining the team last July 4...Entering Wednesday, the Dominican native is 3rd in franchise history in RBI (79) and is 1124 behind INF José Peroza (91) for the all-time mark and 1 behind INF Luke Ritter (80) for 2nd...He is tied with Peroza for 1st in doubles (34), 2nd in total bases (216) and hits (147), and tied for 3rd in runs scored (76). 

THE RHY-T STUFF: OF Rhylan Thomas had his 11-game hitting streak since July 8 snapped on Saturday, but he added 2 more hits on Sunday and Tuesday...In 17 games since July 4 at Wilmington, the former USC Trojan is slashing .393/.433/.459 with a .892 OPS at the dish and a 147 wRC+...Thomas has added 9 runs scored, a home run, 9 RBI, and 5 walks to only 5 strikeouts...The left-handed swinger has composed multi-hit efforts in 6 of his last 11 games dating back to July 18 at Hudson Valley, slashing .429/.455/.524 with a .979 OPS and 170 wRC+...Thomas already has as many RBI (9) as he did in St. Lucie in 59 fewer plate appearances (139 to 80)...Among players with 70 or more plate appearances since the start of July, Thomas ranks 3rd in the South Atlantic League in batting average (.375). 

THE BEST AROUND: Since the start of a 4-game winning streak at Hudson Valley on May 17, the Cyclones’ pitching staff has, statistically, been the most dominant in Minor League Baseball...Entering Wednesday, Brooklyn has posted a MiLB-low 2.96 ERA (187 ER in 568.0 IP) over their last 66 games, holding a 37-28 record in that span...The Yankees’ High-A Hudson Valley (3.29) is 2nd in the minors...The Cyclones have hurled 7 shutouts — which tied for 2nd-most in MiLB — in that span and hold a strikeout rate of 28.2% and a walk rate of 11.2%...Additionally, Brooklyn pitching holds the 2nd lowest opposing OPS (.623), in addition to the 3rd lowest hits-per-9 innings (6.97) and batting average against (.212) in that period...RHPs Blade Tidwell (1.56), Tyler Stuart (1.99), and RHP Christian Scott (2.10) hold the 1st, 2nd, and 4th best ERA’s in MiLB during that time (min. 60.0 IP).
