PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. (August 12, 2023) – The Palm Beach Cardinals won a high scoring affair 10-7 over the St. Lucie Mets on Saturday night at Clover Park (Box Score).

The Cardinals jumped out to an early 5-0 lead on Mets starter Jordan Geber and never trailed as they picked up their fourth win of the series.  The first four batters of the second inning each recorded a hit for Palm Beach. Sammy Hernandez laced a RBI single, Won-Bin Cho and Zach Levenson hit consecutive sac flies and Michael Curialle hit a RBI single to complete a four-run inning.

Mets catcher Jose Hernandez launched a two-run homer off Cardinals starter Hancel Rincon in the bottom of the second to make it 5-2.

Kevin Villavicencio extended his hitting streak to eight games with a solo homer in the fifth to make it 5-3. Vincent Perozo hit a long sac fly later in the inning to cut the deficit to 5-4. The Cardinals nearly mangled the game with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. The shortstop Espinoza threw wide of first on what would have been the final out on a ground ball hit by Lorusso. The error scored Nick Morabito. Yohairo Cuevas then flew a ball to right field that was missed by Brayden Jobert for an error that scored Lorusso to make it 10-7.
