Tim Healey Newsday: MLB looking into conduct of Mets owner Steve Cohen along with Billy Eppler, report says. "The question MLB wants to answer about Cohen — according to the Times, which cited two people familiar with the matter — is what he knew or should have known about his team breaking the rules, if the Mets are found to have cheated...The Times report did not specify what other accusations about Eppler’s conduct as GM the anonymous letter mentioned. It did say that Cohen has cooperated with the investigation."
NY Post: Mets will have to wait few weeks to talk with Craig Counsell. Though the Brewers’ season ended with a loss in the wild-card round to the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, their manager’s contract does not expire until Oct. 31, sources said.
Tim Healey Newsday: Five potential candidates for Mets general manager opening under David Stearns. Tim's list includes "Sig Mejdal, Orioles AGM: After overlapping with Stearns during their Astros days, Mejdal joined Mike Elias in Baltimore, where they rebuilt the Orioles basically from scratch....Carlos Rodriguez, Rays VP of baseball ops...Karl Mueller, Brewers senior VP of player personnel...Ian Levin, Mets AGM, or Jonathan Strangio, Mets senior VP of baseball ops"
"Since the time I've played, there was roster manipulation using the IL. I'm confused as to why that would be such a distraction that Billy Eppler would choose to resign so quickly in the wake of that"
