David Lennon Newsday Mets' Carlos Mendoza settling in at right time as a rookie manager. Mendoza — who received rave reviews from his colleagues in pinstripes — seems best suited to handle this transitional phase for the Mets, both as a bridge to the front office and handling the boots on the ground in the dugout...'He’s a great baseball mind,' Mark Vientos said Tuesday. 'He told me, don’t forget what brought you up here. Maximize it and work on things you need to work on. It’s great advice, so I’m going to take it and run with it.'”

'Playing every single day gives the opportunity to showcase myself at its best. So if I get the opportunity to do that, I’m not going to look back.'”

Baseball America: Arizona, Florida Complex League Schedules Changing For 2024. "Last year, the two complex leagues began on June 5 and finished on Aug. 22. This year, they will begin on May 4 and will wrap up on July 25, which means the regular season will be complete just days after the 2024 MLB draft finishes...The change was described by one farm director as a further effect of the new 165-player roster limits for the domestic affiliated leagues. Some teams expressed concern about having enough pitchers to fill the 600 innings needed if the leagues’ seasons were largely played after the draft." (Subscription required)
