The MLB Network visited Mets Spring Training:

NY Post:

  • ‘Old-school’ Adrian Houser’s tweaks could be a Mets gamechanger. "Ground balls make his starts successful, and instead of veering toward the allure of strikeouts, Houser embraced his style...He’ll keep the slider in his pitching repertoire. He tweaked the grip of his changeup this spring with the Mets to rediscover his success with the pitch in 2019 and the first half of last season."
  • Edwin Diaz’s Mets spring debut set a year after devastating injury. "Mets closer Edwin Díaz will make his first Grapefruit League appearance Monday when the Mets host the Marlins at Clover Park, manager Carlos Mendoza said"
  • Mets counting on depth over dominance with Cy Young aces gone. "It’s Severino, Jose Quintana, Sean Manaea, Adrian Houser and most likely Tylor Megill to start the season. If the Mets are fortunate, Kodai Senga will return in early May from the shoulder strain that has idled him in camp...pitching coach Jeremy Hefner said Sunday: 'I think Sevy’s best is in there and it’s our job to get him in that position that he can go out and do it. Megill has worked his butt off and the returns have been positive so far. [Jose] Butto, the same way. Manaea has worked. Guys like [Quintana] and Houser, they are command guys and innings-eaters. All these guys worked extremely hard in the offseason to enhance their arsenals and the returns have been good so far.'”

Jim Bowden The Athletic: A spring training standout for each MLB team: 30 players turning heads in camp. For the Mets - Starling Marte, RF. "The early returns in spring training look promising. Perhaps the two-time All-Star could become a Comeback Player of the Year candidate in his 13th year in the majors. David Stearns, president of baseball operations: 'Marte has come into camp in a great spot physically. He worked extremely hard this offseason and played winter ball, which prepared him well for camp. He’s moving very well.'”
