Game Recap: Rumble Ponies Drop Series Opener at New Hampshire

MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Binghamton Rumble Ponies (6-9) fell to the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 7-1, in the series opener at Delta Dental Stadium on Tuesday night.

New Hampshire (8-8) got the scoring started two batters into the game on a solo home run from Josh Kasevich against Rumble Ponies starter David Griffin (0-1).

In the second inning, the Fisher cats had four-straight hits and three more runs scored to make it 4-0. The runs scored on an RBI double from Miguel Hiraldo, RBI double form Alan Roden, and RBI single from Kasevich.

Up 4-0 in the sixth, New Hampshire put up another three-spot on four hits. Garrett Spain singled, Devonte Brown hit an RBI single, Hiraldo singled and Kasevich later hit a two-run single to make it 7-0. Kasevich drove in four runs in the game.

The Rumble Ponies got on the board in the seventh inning. Brandon McIlwain hit a leadoff double and later scored on an RBI single from Rhylan Thomas. Thomas extended his hitting streak to six games and also walked and was hit by a pitch. He has 10 hits and six runs batted in over his last six games.

The Rumble Ponies will continue their six-game road series with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats (Double-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays) at Delta Dental Stadium on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 6:35 PM and the game will be broadcast live on Newsradio 1290 WNBF & 92.1 FM.

Postgame Notes: Alex Ramírez reached base three times with a single, two walks and two stolen bases…Ramírez is now hitting .327 and has seven stole bases this season…McIlwain recorded his fifth multi-hit game of the season and raised his batting average to .317…Kevin Parada extended his hitting streak to three games with a single.
