    • Earned their second walk-off win of the season and their first against St. Louis since May 19, 2022 (Pete Alonso walk-off homer)...The club's 25 walk-off wins since 2021 are tied with Colorado for the seventh-most in the majors during that span.
    • Are 18-7 (.720) in extra-inning games since 2022, the best extra-inning winning percentage in the majors during that span.
    • Have eight comeback victories this season, tied for fourth in the majors.
  • Mark Vientos: 
    • Slugged a walk-off two-run homer in the 11th...Was his first career walk-off homer and RBI of his career...Was the club's first walk-off homer in the 11th inning or later since Dominic Smith slugged a walk-off three-run homer in the 11th on September 29, 2019 vs. Atlanta.

  • Reed Garrett: 
    • Joins Jesse Orosco (August 1983) as the only relief pitcher in franchise history to win five games in a month...Is the first reliever with five wins in a month since Alex Reyes won five games in September, 2021.
    • Has seven multi-strikeout games in relief, tied for second-most in the majors...His 27 strikeouts leads all major league relievers.
  • Jose Quintana: 
    • Threw 8.0 innings today, the longest start by a Met since Justin Verlander threw 8.0 innings of one-run ball on July 19 vs. Chicago-AL...Is his longest as a Met surpassing his previous high of 7.0 innings set on September 5, 2023 vs. Washington and is his longest start since September 17, 2022 vs. Cincinnati with St. Louis (Also: 8.0 IP).
    • Has a 2.50 ERA (14 ER/50.1 IP) in his first nine home starts with the Mets, tied with Kodai Senga for the 14th-lowest mark by a Mets starter in their first nine home games with the club.
  • Francisco Lindor: Put the Mets on the board with a solo homer in the sixth...Is batting .314/.375/.608 with four homers over his last 13 games and is batting .324 (12-37) with six extra-base hits over his last 10 games a left-handed batter...Batted .080 (4-50) in his first 10 games as a left-handed batter...Was his 14th career game with multiple stolen bases.

Mike Puma NY Post: Mark Vientos walks off Mets with homer in 11th for thrilling win over Cardinals. "The Mets had floundered offensively for most of the afternoon, but Vientos with one 11th-inning jolt offered absolution, delivering a two-run walk-off homer in a 4-2 victory at Citi Field that prevented a Cardinals three-game sweep."

NY Daily News: "Vientos’ heroics nearly were not possible. The Mets began the game 0-for-15 with runners in scoring position and were down 2-1 in the 11th when Harrison Bader lined a two-out RBI single on an 0-2 pitch from Liberatore to tie the game."

Brian Joura Mets360: "Jose Quintana got the start and had a rough first inning, where he threw 26 pitches. But he settled down and became the first Mets pitcher to throw a pitch in the eighth inning. He finished with 8 IP and 1 ER but did not factor into the decision."

Jose Quintana was 7 2⁄3 innings and 95 pitches into his outing, the best from any Mets pitcher this season, when Mendoza made that familiar walk to the mound with Adam Ottavino ready and waiting in the bullpen...Mendoza said: 'I left the dugout and I was pretty sure I was going to go to Adam.     During the seven-run fourth inning at the Polo Grounds, Frank Thomas ties a major league mark by being hit twice with a pitch in one inning. Art Mahaffey and Frank Sullivan plunk the Mets outfielder in the Phillies' 8-0 loss.

    1984

    On Strawberry Sunday, former World Series hero Jerry Koosman is greeted warmly by the Mets' faithful in his first start at Shea Stadium since 1978 when he faces his old team for the first time. Prior to the 6-2 victory over Philadelphia, fans are treated to strawberry sundaes provided by Carvel in honor of Darryl Strawberry, last season's National League Rookie of the Year.

    1996

    John Franco becomes the first left-hander to record 300 saves, allowing just a hit and no runs in the top of the ninth inning in the Mets' 3-2 victory over Montreal at Shea Stadium. The southpaw recorded his first save exactly 12 years ago on this date wearing a Reds' uniform.

    Baseball Reference:

    2013: The Marlins earn a rare victory, 4 - 3, over the Mets with a two-run rally in the bottom of the 15th inning. Ruben Tejada gives the Mets a 3 - 2 lead with an infield single off Jon Rauch in the top of the 15th, but the Fish come back on Rob Brantly's single and Nick Green's sacrifice fly against Shaun Marcum, the Mets' ninth pitcher of the night. It is the first time Miami wins back-to-back games this year, but the win is costly as the team's best hitter, Giancarlo Stanton, pulls a hamstring running out a ground ball in the 10th and is immediately placed on the disabled list.

    2016 - The Mets score a team record 12 runs in the 3rd inning in defeating the Giants, 13 - 1. Yoenis Cespedes collects 6 RBIs in the frame with a two-run single off Jake Peavy and a grand slam off Mike Broadway. Steven Matz is the winner.

    1996 - John Franco of the New York Mets becomes the first left-handed pitcher to reach the 300-save plateau with a scoreless 9th inning in a 3 - 2 Mets win over the Expos at Shea Stadium.
